Noura Mint Seymali plays blues rock through the lens of Maghreb Islamic musical traditions. It’s some of the more hard-rocking music I’ve heard in a while. The vocals and drums are right up front and there are Jimi Hendrix-style guitar lines throughout played by the singer’s husband Jeiche Ould Chighaly.

Noura Mint Seymali comes from a long line of influential musicians. It’s good to see that she’s carrying on with the family business.
